The Seminar Presentation for Assistant Professor - Soil and Water Conservation Candidate: Dr. Christopher Wellen, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Fellow, Ecohydrology Group, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Waterloo How can watershed biogeochemical models inform environmental policy? Towards better integrating hydrology, biogeochemistry, and land use change.

The Derry Lecture is sponsored by Douglas and Margaret Derry and it recognizes the interdisciplinary spirit that animates the First Year Seminar program. This year the lecturer is Janet Bannister, a technology innovator who created Kijiji (and took it global). Janet has provided leadership for a number of internationally known companies and is now a General Partner in a venture capital firm where she looks for new ideas and helps to nurture them. A former Canadian triathlon champion, understands dedication and determination; she is inspirational and insightful.  

Ecologicol Justice: an interdisciplinary talk series at the University of Guelph- Our final talk for the fall semester, featuring: Madhur Anand, Professor and University Research Chair in Sustainablility Science, School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph, " Ecological Justice and the case of the bistable forest-grassland mosaics of Brazil and old-growth forests of Northern Ontario "  Date - Wednesday December 2, 2015 in Mackinnon 317 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM 

This month all Students, Staff, and Faculty are welcome to share their favourite international dishes with us Wednesday, November 25th at noon in the Bovey Greenhouse Cafe. It could be a main dish, a side, a dessert... anything you'd like! If you don't know any international recipes but would still like to bring something go right ahead.  For a small donation you can also come out and enjoy all of the food. All donations will be going to United Way. 

There will be a classroom training session for the new WHMIS requirements if you have not completed the online training. It will be held in GRHM3301 (Murray Room) on Tuesday, November 24 from 9-12.  All staff, faculty and students are welcome to attend. Please RSVP if you will be attending.
