PhD position in Environmental Microbiology with the School of Environmental Sciences

Dr. Kari Dunfield is seeking applicants for a PhD position in Environmental Microbiology at the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph. The project will focus on genetic-based characterization of toluene biodegradation at a local contaminated site. It will be part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-year study being conducted with industry partners on the efficacy of phytoremediation efforts.

Webster Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Environmental Sciences

Established in honour of the late Earle J.D. Webster, the Webster Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Environmental Sciences was created to fun ground-breaking environmental science research toward making a better planet. Webster attended OAC in 1927, and later went on to distinguish himself as an elementary school educator and author. He showed lifelong interest in both geology and forestry.

4th annual OAC-GSC Colloquium! February 27th, 2015

Only a few days left to sign up for the 4th annual OAC-GSC Colloquium! This interdisciplinary event is being held on Friday, February 27th, 2015 and will run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm in the Arboretum Centre. It is FREE to attend and includes a FREE lunch and coffee break snacks! Each department will brainstorm how their department might develop, improve, or promote the use of functional foods for human health. This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Massimo Marcone, Adjunct Professor in Food Science at the University of Guelph.
