M.Sc. graduate student position in Vineland Research and Innovation Centre
A M.Sc. graduate student position is available starting May 1 2015 for two years at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.

The candidate will be involved in a container nursery crop nutrient management research project. This project is intended to provide information to help the nursery industry develop Best Management Practices on fertilizer use to benefit the environment and maximize nurseries’ profits. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Youbin Zheng (/ses/users/yzheng) on the Vineland campus, and at the same time will be registered as M.Sc. student in the School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct experiments (both on the Vineland campus and at commercial nurseries), collect and analyze data, write reports, manuscripts and Master’s thesis. The student will be responsible for daily management of the container crops involved in this research project, nutrient solution runoff collection and analysis, etc. Driving from Vineland to different commercial nurseries to conduct applied research in Southwest Ontario is a major part of this project; therefore a clean Ontario driver’s license is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Candidates should have completed a BSc. in Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, and have some background in plant physiology, soil science, and plant nutrition.
