Spotlight on Success: Dr. Jesse Popp Receives 2025 Research Excellence Award
Dr. Popp is one of the nine researchers receiving this year's U of G 2025 Research Excellence Award. This award is presented each year by the Office of Research and the Office of Provost to honour newly tenured faculty members for their groundbreaking research and also their knowledge mobilization efforts. One key aspect of this award is to raise the external visibility of these outstanding individuals.
Dr. Jesse Popp was the only OAC recipient this year. From the awards announcements: “Popp, a member of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory and Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Environmental Science, works to advance environmental science by weaving Indigenous knowledge systems with Western scientific approaches. She co-leads community-based, collaborative projects with Indigenous communities to address ecological issues, ensuring research is conducted ethically, respectfully and in genuine partnership.”
Congratulations to Dr. Jesse Popp!
