Workplace Skills and Professional Development Workshop Series & Graduate Students SES and Plant Agriculture Media Skills Training April 25 and 26, 2015 University of Guelph hosts : OAC, SES and Dept. of Plant Agriculture Workshop Sponsor : Brenda Harris, Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc., Calgary, AB Guest Instructor: Kerri-Sue Lang - AdFarm, Guelph, ON Morgan Jackson (PhD Candidate SES) Social Media Instructor WorkShop Description : This 1.5 day workshop - all day April 25 (Saturday); until 2:00pm April 26 (Sunday) aims to provide graduate students and Post Doctoral Fellows (PDFs) with workplace ready media skills focused on communicating with media outlets (e.g. preparing for an interview – print, TV or radio). The workshop is delivered using a mix of lectures, discussion, in-class assignments, video recording, group participation and other learning supports that are focused on engaging all participants. Participants are asked to bring information on outcomes of recent research they are involved in OR a recently scientific publication of which they were one of the authors.

Workshop open to: Graduate students in SES and Dept. of Plant Agriculture. Course capacity – 20 participants.

Location: Guelph Turfgrass Institute – University of Guelph

Sustenance: Breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverage breaks provided each day. Special dietary requirements will be provided at registration.

Course Materials: There is not a required textbook for this course. All material will be made available in class.

Cost: $25.00 (value of course $500.00). Paid to Joanne Scarrow in SES at time of registration.
