The graduate students of the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queen’s University would like to formally invite all graduate and senior undergraduate students to the 14th annual Advances in Earth Sciences Research Conference (AESRC), March 27-29th, 2015. This student-run conference provides graduate and senior undergraduate earth science students with an opportunity to present their research in a multi-disciplinary environment. AESRC also represents a forum where student researchers can interact with industry leaders to discuss corporate involvement in research and opportunities available to students upon graduation.

AESRC 2015 welcomes research from all facets of earth science, including: economic geology, geochemistry, igneous and metamorphic petrology, tectonics, sedimentology, petroleum geology, paleontology, environmental geochemistry, geological engineering, geophysics and more!

AESRC is an excellent venue to discuss your own research with colleagues and practice in a public forum. Oral presentations of 15 minutes (with 5 minutes for discussion) are open to graduate students, whereas the poster session encourages participation from both graduate and undergraduate researchers. A fee of $25 per participant covers the costs of conference registration, an icebreaker Friday night, coffee breaks and lunches, as well as a banquet Saturday night.

Due to the generosity of our sponsors, prizes will be awarded for exceptional presentations (oral and poster sessions). Over $1000 in prizes will be awarded!!!

The deadline for abstract submission is Feb 28th, 2015. Abstracts should be no more than 400 words (not including title, authors and author affiliations) and must not include figures. Please submit abstracts as .docx files written in size 12 font Times New Roman. Don’t forget to list all co-authors and their affiliations. Abstracts should be emailed to AESRC2015@geol.queensu.ca. Include your last name, initials and the word “abstract” in the subject field of your email, and as your document title. To aid us in choosing an appropriate session, please provide descriptive keywords for your research. Please ensure that your email specifies poster or oral session.
