Temporary part-time (10-20 hours/week) (start/end dates flexible, renewable- position for at least 1 year).
Remuneration (Hourly rate commensurate with experience): Classification: Grant & Trust Administrative & Technical Research Assistant II, Band B

Location: Guelph, Ontario

The Research Assistant will assist with both literary creation and scientific discovery work as well as minor lab management and general administrative support.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Lab assistance with managing/completing minor tasks including administrative support for individual lab members, assisting with field work logistics (e.g., organizing travel to conferences, email communications, filling out forms etc.), maintaining lab supplies and upkeep, organizing outreach events and symposia
  • Creative and/or scientific research assistance (e.g., mailing items, email communications, preparing pptx’s, management of digital materials, library research, field work, literature reviews, data entry, preparation of maps)
  • Administrative assistance including updating websites, CVs, and editing proposals, papers and other writing

Minimum Requirements of this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree of any kind with excellent academic standing. BAS (Bachelor’s of Arts and Science) or other interdisciplinary undergraduate programs will be considered an advantage

  • Some scientific experience and knowledge required

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • An avid reader of literature; some artistic/design talent considered an advantage

  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License

  • Must be able to work from home or on campus office located in Guelph, Ontario

  • Must be able to collaborate and be discrete about artistic endeavours

  • Administrative experience an advantage

  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, multi-tasking, ability to meet short deadlines
