SES Remembers Serge Lévesque

Submitted by shaerri on October 7th, 2025 12:12 PM

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Serge Lévesque, a PhD student working under Dr. Thomas Graham at the Controlled Environment Systems Research Facility (CESRF). Serge’s passion for research was matched only by his humility and generosity. He contributed to several projects with passion and dedication, and was particularly proud to have developed a registered patent in collaboration with the University of Guelph.

Our thoughts are with Serge’s family, his partner, his friends, his research group, and all members of our community who are grieving this loss.

You can read the full obituary [1] to learn more about Serge’s life and his meaningful contributions to research. To honour his memory, donations can be made to the Serge Lévesque Memorial Fund [2], which aims to establish a scholarship in his name to continue his legacy.

If you are in need of support, U of G provides grievance resources and services [3].

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
