Our own Dr. Peter Kevan co-authored a paper in January 2024 for PLOS Biology [1]. The paper introduces innovative hardware and software capable of generating videos that accurately depict how various animals perceive colors, including birds and bees.

This groundbreaking new approach was picked up by many different news outlets such as Scientific American [2], New York Times [3], and The Globe and Mail [4].

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
