Our own Dr. Susan Chiblow is new IJC commissioner

Submitted by shaerri on February 6th, 2024 10:26 AM

The International Joint Commission (IJC) appointed our own Dr. Susan Chiblow as the Canadian Commissioner.

The International Joint Commission [1] was created by Canada and the United States and is guided by the Boundary Waters Treaty. The IJC recognizes that each country's action affects waterways along the border. The IJC recommends solutions to transboundary issues such as shared water use and improving water quality, when requested by national governments.

Dr. Susan Chiblow is a Vanier Scholar and Assistant Professor for our school. She is Anishinaabe kwe, born and raised in Garden River First Nation, Ontario. Her appointment as Canadian Commissioner follows Mr. Henry Lickers. Read more about her appointment. [2]

In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
