The Arts of Attention: An Interdisciplinary Walking Tour

Our SES Artist in Residency program invites you to join a workshop/interdisciplinary walking tour by multispecies artist and scholar Cole Swanson.

Join artist Cole Swanson [1]on a visit to the University of Guelph Arboretum to explore methods in multispecies practice and science-art collaborations. This workshop will consider the material and multisensory possibilities for researchers working among more-than-human others. Through in-situ observations and demonstrations, Swanson will introduce practical and ethical guidelines for conducting ecologically-oriented, interdisciplinary research.

Attendance is free, but please register. [2]

This workshop is presented by the School of Fine Art and Music and the School of Environmental Science at the University of Guelph.

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
