Soils at Guelph

To mark World Soil Day in 2018, a $500,000 donation was made to the University of Guelph to combat declining soil health in Ontario. Under the direction of the SES Profs. Kari Dunfield, Laura Van Eerd, and Claudia Wagner-Riddle, a new outreach initiative was formed with the name Soils at Guelph. Soils at Guelph is an effort to increase awareness of research initiatives, facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders, and to educate on the importance of soil health.

The mission of Soils at Guelph is to advance sustainable soil management in Ontario by bridging gaps between farmers, researchers, industry, government, and the general public.

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
