SES Seminar - Dr. Liz Franklin

Submitted by shaerri on June 5th, 2019 3:45 PM
Date:
Thursday, June 13th, 2019 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Location:

Alexander Hall, Room 265

Our own Dr. Liz Franklin will talk about her research "Using a multiple radio tower array for assessing small organism habitat use and dispersal"

Abstract:

Radio tracking is still one of the most effective and affordable ways of measuring the habitat use and dispersal of small organisms. However, collecting large data sets on animal movement using radio telemetry is very time consuming and can potentially influence the behaviour of the target organisms. Here we present the validation data from our automated multi radio tower array and discuss it's potential for monitoring the habitat use and dispersal of small mammals, birds, reptiles and large-bodied insects.

If you cannot make this session or want to know more, we are also holding two field tour sessions. June 18th and 20th 10am-11am Arboretum Centre.

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
