Our own Dr. Liz Franklin will talk about her research "Using a multiple radio tower array for assessing small organism habitat use and dispersal"

Abstract:

Radio tracking is still one of the most effective and affordable ways of measuring the habitat use and dispersal of small organisms. However, collecting large data sets on animal movement using radio telemetry is very time consuming and can potentially influence the behaviour of the target organisms. Here we present the validation data from our automated multi radio tower array and discuss it's potential for monitoring the habitat use and dispersal of small mammals, birds, reptiles and large-bodied insects.
