SES Interim Director Named
Prof. Jon Warland has been named the interim director of the School of Environmental Sciences (SES) effective May 1, 2015. Warland assumes interim chair duties as Prof. Jonathan Newman begins in his new position as dean of the College of Biological Sciences effective August 1, 2015.

“Warland is a passionate teacher, recognized researcher and is committed to the future growth and development of the school,” shares Rob Gordon, dean of the Ontario Agricultural College.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jonathan Newman for the significant and meaningful contributions that he has made to SES as chair over the past six years,” adds Gordon. An internal director search is expected to happen during the summer months.

The University of Guelph’s SES distinguishes itself from other environmental science programs in that it comprises a true integration of the life and physical sciences to address important environmental problems in forest, aquatic and agro-ecosystems.
In addition to our unique research capabilities, the SES is committed to providing a learner-centered environmental science education to undergraduate and graduate students – one that is second to none in North America.
