In addition to aquatic ecosystems research [1], research related to water resources is quite diverse including many different aspects of water contamination (quality) and budgeting (quantity). Biological, chemical, and physical studies are conducted in multidisciplinary projects. Some examples of water related research conducted in SES are: speciation and adsorption of toxic elements; water and wastewater microbiology; measuring and modeling of water flow in the unsaturated soil zone; scale of analysis and the influence of submerged macrophytes on lake processes; and assessment of water and sediment quality.
