                   ""Governance for  Sustainable Development"

Lecture Abstract

The lecture traces the concepts and the practice of sustainable development -from their origins in the nature conservation movement to current efforts to achieve sustainable economies. It applies the building blocks of good governance – norm-setting, decision making and accountability – to assess the rate of progress in societies’ advance toward sustainability. It argues that future progress will depend on system- and economy-wide approaches.
